Normally the “Check it out” posts are for the misters but I found something for us mama’s that I needed to share!
I’m no beauty expert but I do have a face and I put all kinds of stuff all over it on a daily basis, so that must count for something. I am also, at times, “effort challenged” meaning I can’t be assed spending 1.5 hours spreading goop on my face in an attempt to look “pretty”. So I need quick and simple things that are also effective and not too pricey. Is that too much to ask?
I prefer a natural look when it comes to makeup. Don’t get me wrong, I like my face covered. I don’t see the point of putting on makeup if you still look the same as when you woke up. I do like coverage, just without a “I put my face on with a paintball gun” kinda feel.
Most days I wear a beautiful mineral powder foundation by Bare Minerals which I finish off with a quick dusting of their Mineral Veil to set it all in place, plus some bronzer and a good mascara. Oh, and I smash a lipgloss like there’s no tomorrow.
If I’m going out at night (hahaha, very rare), I’ll smack on some Bare Minerals Bare Skin liquid foundation, the Mineral Veil, bronzer, some eyeshadow (usually in browns and natural tones) and more lipgloss with a nude-ish lippie. Pretty simple, pretty easy. Just what I like.
Last year I discovered primers. Not dissimilar to the house paint stuff, primer fills in all your face cracks and leaves a smoother, nicer surface for your face paint to stick to. I like them because they hide your pores, your face looks smoother, they can reduce the awful shine-face I’m prone to, and if you wear powder makeup it allows it to sit on the surface and not hide in all the around/under eye crevices.
I’ve tried many. So many. Some have been shithouse, some have been really good. The prices have varied too with one of the good ones I’ve tried being just over $50. To be honest, I don’t have the money to be able to fork out that kind of dough for face stuff on a regular basis.
So imagine my happiness when I found the perfect one. A primer that smooths your face, prepares it for perfect makeup application and hides shine-face all the day long. All day long!!
And it’s only around $12.
I kid you not, the Garnier Perfect Blur little tube of miracles is, as the young people say, totes amazeballs. It is the only product I have ever used that has stopped shiny-face all day and it’s oh-so-light too – you can’t even feel it on your face (nothing worse than walking around all day feeling like you’ve used PVA glue).
You can get it pretty much anywhere – chemists, supermarkets, department stores etc. It’ll last you a while too as you only need a little bit at a time.
I love this stuff.
